NordVPN 2025: full review, method, security & pricing
Our approach is simple: useful explanations, official links, information you can verify. Below you’ll find the key tech NordLynx (built on WireGuard), the current state of Meshnet, the history of no-log audits, Linux aspects, dated pricing, and practical tips.
Our editorial stance
We keep things clear and restrained. No hype and no unsourced numbers: when info can change, we point to the canonical page; when it’s confirmed, we cite the official post. The goal is to help you make up your own mind, with evidence you can check.
Why NordVPN can make sense in 2025
The main draw is NordLynx, NordVPN’s WireGuard®-based implementation with a double-NAT mechanism to preserve privacy while keeping performance. For everyday use, start with NordLynx; if your environment misbehaves, switch to OpenVPN in the app. See NordLynx and the primer on WireGuard.
Everyday features
The apps include tailored profiles (P2P, obfuscation, double VPN) and a network-level safety layer (“Threat Protection”) that filters known malicious domains and ads via DNS. On Linux, an official graphical interface simplifies setup while keeping the CLI for fine-tuning; see the vendor post. Accounts support up to 10 simultaneous devices, which suits multi-device households.
See: Linux GUI announcement.
No-log policy: independent checks
NordVPN has communicated recurring reviews of its no-log policy: a second assurance engagement in 2020, a third communication in 2023, a 2024 recap, then a fifth verification announced in 2025. For scope and limitations, see the official posts: 2020, 2023, 2024, 2025.
Meshnet: status & timeline
On August 18, 2025, NordVPN announced Meshnet would end on December 1, 2025. Following user feedback, the vendor confirmed in early October that Meshnet would remain. If you rely on Meshnet for private networks, file sharing, or LAN gaming, refer to the two posts: retirement announcement (link) and reversal (link). Feature pages remain available for private networks, file sharing, and joint projects.
Servers & locations
Coverage evolves. To pick an optimal node, use the Servers page and, inside the app, the “Countries” section. The help center shows where to find the server list: article.
